In many rural and suburban regions, it is almost impossible to get around without a car. This is where StadtLandMobil comes in: the platform offers easy access to private car-sharing and
flexible on-demand shuttles – ideal solutions where bus and rail services are limited. The project combines urban mobility models with neighbourhood-based sharing concepts and demonstrates how modern mobility in rural areas can be ecological, social and digital at the same time.
Mobile together
At the heart of the project is the idea of a shared household fleet. Neighbourhoods and residential communities share their private vehicles, creating a fleet that everyone can use – from everyday cars to family vehicles and vans. To make sharing simple, StadtLandMobil provides everything that is needed: a digital booking app, suitable insurance, fuel and charging cards, as well as services such as maintenance and cleaning. Information and participation campaigns also help neighbourhoods connect with one another and organise the service collectively. In this way, the project creates not only a new mobility service, but also greater trust, exchange and a stronger sense of community at the local level.
Digital and available on demand
Additional shuttle systems are intended to complement or replace inflexible public transport timetables. By pooling multiple travel requests, the shuttles remain both reliable and affordable. Based on the mobility platforms of Quartiershub and e+k move, StadtLandMobil combines both private car-sharing and on-demand mobility services in a single intuitive app. Thanks to a standardised plug-and-play approach, the concept can easily be rolled out to other communities.
