Description

There is a lot of unused potential in all kinds of mobility spaces that can be made more inviting, more pleasant, and safer. It begins with small strips of green, unused car parks, and dark alleyways. The project plans to transform this unused potential from undesirable to vibrant mobility spaces of transformation (“Wandlungsräume”) which facilitate inclusion, interaction, and movement.

Feel free to join in

Based on research conducted into transformation projects in public spaces that serve as examples, it is time to begin with the implementation of ‘awaken spaces for mobility with a true love’s kiss’. The plan is to identify and redesign undesired places in the districts and convert them into spaces for long-term utilisation so that these spaces of transformation permanently improve the quality of life in the district. Everything is feasible, from benches on the way to the supermarket to neighbourhood gardens, strips of greenery, small squares that are redesigned, or underpasses that will be used for a different purpose.

Collaborations with universities, local initiatives, clubs, and associations as well as district committees are part of the plan to provide input and ideas for specific local projects.

For Munich and the region

The perspective of this project is to extend it to areas beyond the city limits so the spaces of transformation can develop not only in Munich’s districts but also in many locations across the Munich metropolitan region throughout the entire IBA duration period.
