Learning together and moing together towards a climate-friendly learning district: With the new State Vocational School Centre and the expansion of the technical college, vocational upper secondary school and business school, the district of Freising is undertaking its largest future-focused project. The Freising Learning District – Education in Motion project seizes the opportunity to bring together previously separate school sites through an integrated mobility and design concept, creating a connected learning district.
Education that connects
The goal is to create a place that embodies the vibrant urban space which links acquisition of knowledge with mobility and interaction. A space where education is visible surrounded by school routes, public spaces, and traffic areas that promote communication. Accessible pathways, green recreational areas, and shared public spaces create opportunities for social inclusion and learning – even beyond the classroom. TheFreising Learning District – Education in Motion project is intended to become a model for a connected place of learning that brings together different types of schools.
Sustainable and climate-friendly
A green boulevard links the schools and encourages walking and cycling, while a modern bus hub centralises public transport services. The integrated mobility concept also includes smart solutions such as ride-sharing apps and digital parking management to reduce car traffic. Sustainable mobility habits will be encouraged through awareness-raising in the classroom and dedicated action days. Green infrastructure, heat-mitigation measures and resource-efficient materials enhance the quality of the environment while reducing the ecological footprint of this forward-looking place of learning and everyday life.
