After studying urban planning at the University of Dortmund and completing his traineeship in Frankfurt, Engelbert Lütke Daldrup worked as a research assistant at the Technical University of Berlin. In 1991, he joined the Berlin Senate Building Administration, where he led the Capital City Planning Division. From 1995 to 2005, he served as Leipzig’s City Planning Commissioner.
Between 2006 and 2009, he served as State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development. From 2010 to 2012, he worked as an independent advisor and was, among other roles, a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Heidelberg IBA. He then served as Managing Director of the Thuringia IBA in 2013 and 2014. From 2014 to 2017, he served as State Secretary in Berlin’s City Development Administration before becoming Chairman of the Management Board of Berlin Brandenburg Airport, a position he held from 2017 to 2021. Since 2022, he has worked as a senior advisor and is also an honorary professor at the Technical University of Berlin and the University of Leipzig.
