Ingrid Simet studied law in Munich and Berlin. After completing her second state examination, she began her career as an administrative lawyer with the Free State of Bavaria. Throughout her career, she held positions at various levels of public administration, including the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior, the Supreme Building Authority, the Government of Upper Bavaria and the Munich District Office. Her work covered a wide range of legal fields, including social welfare and youth welfare law, municipal law, environmental law and civil service law. For many years, however, her main focus was on building law, urban development, and housing and urban development funding. Until December 2024, Ingrid Simet served as Ministerial Director and Deputy Head of Office at the Bavarian State Ministry for Housing, Building and Transport.

How would you describe your vision for the “Spaces of Mobility” for the Munich Metropolitan Region in 2034 in three words?
Connected, efficient and user-centric.
What do you see as the biggest mobility challenge facing the Munich Metropolitan Region?
The key challenge is developing an integrated mobility system that successfully balances sustainability and efficiency. We need to meet growing demand for public transport while keeping the environmental footprint to a minimum and ensuring accessibility and reliability for everyone.
What motivated you to get involved in the IBA-M?
Drawing on both personal and professional experience, I am convinced that innovative and reliable mobility solutions are essential for Munich. They’re vital in terms of dealing with ongoing population growth while also providing climate-friendly mobility options.
What unique perspective or expertise do you bring to the IBA-M?
I bring many years of experience from the Bavarian Ministries of the Interior and Construction, particularly in the fields of urban development, infrastructure and the built environment. This allows me to contribute my expertise to discussions on future-oriented mobility projects.
