IBA-M Network Workshop “Railway Station Neighbourhoods”

Railway stations and their surrounding areas are central hubs for mobility and urban development. They not only connect people and regions but can also provide important impetus for sustainable, liveable and future-proof neighbourhoods.
Against this backdrop, IBA-M, together with six municipalities from the Munich Metropolitan Region and Deutsche Bahn, is launching the “Railway Station Neighbourhoods” network. The workshop marks the start of this collaboration and is dedicated to the challenges, potential and future prospects of railway station neighbourhoods in the region.
The focus is on professional exchange, collaborative learning and insights from planning practice, politics and international examples. Findings from the IBA-M Summer School 2025 and selected project submissions will also feed into the discussions. The goal is to develop new approaches for more efficient and liveable station areas.
The event is aimed at invited representatives from municipalities, politics, public administration, infrastructure and planning.
This event is funded as part of the Congress Initiative for the Bavarian Tourism Industry (Congresses in Bavaria – KiB).
